Why a Safety Tempered Water Blending Unit/Thermostatic Mixing Valve?
Water Temperature: 15°C to 35°C (60°F to 95°F)
The awareness of the need for warm water Emergency plumbed devices has dramatically increased. The idea has gone from being overlooked and rarely considered to its current status as a major concern within the industry. Tempered water can be defined as water that has been stabilized; specifically, water that has been warmed or cooled to a desired temperature. ANSI Z358.1-2004 notes that "delivered water temperature should not be at extremes that might discourage use under emergency conditions. A comfortable temperature range is between 15°C - 35°C (60°F - 95°F). Water of 27°C (80°F) is considered optimum for chemical splashes. While it may be thought of as cool, it can be quite comfortable for any burn related splashes. Tempered water within the 15°C - 35°C (60°F - 95°F) range is desired not only to help cool burns and to help prevent chemical absorption, but it is also desired because it helps prevent hypothermia, encourages the full 15 minute drench time and helps to encourage the removal of contaminated clothing. This system can be added to your existing emergency plumbed in devices.
Unlike other mixing valves, the Thermostatic Mixing Valves Talott distributes are designed specifically for Emergency Plumbed Devices. These units precisely blend hot and cold water to deliver warm (tepid) water as required by ANSI Z358.1-2004. ^

Thermostatic Mixing Valve For Eye Wash
|

|
Application: Thermostatic mixing valve for eye wash. Valve has flow rate of 0.5 to 6 gallons per minute (GPM).
Temperature Control: Valve has bimetallic thermostat that is preset at 29°C (85°F). High temperature limit stop is set to 32°C (90°F). Valve has thermometer on outlet to monitor delivered water temperature.
Fail Safe: In event of loss of hot water supply, internal bypass allows valve to deliver cold water to safety units. In event of loss of cold water, valve will close and not deliver water.
Mounting: Heavy duty mounting bracket for securing to panel or wall.
Inlets: ½" nominal sweat female inlets with integral checkstops and strainers. Minimum supply pressure required is 40 PSI.
Outlet: ½" NPT threaded female outlet.
Quality Assurance: Valve is completely assembled and water tested prior to shipment. |
